Craig Ranch is a master planned community on the north side of SH 121 in southwest McKinney. David Craig started it in 2000, and it has grown to about 2,200 acres with roughly 3,700 single family homes planned, plus townhomes, apartments, offices, and a town center.
Its address is McKinney, but daily life points toward Frisco, Allen, and Plano. The Sam Rayburn Tollway runs along the south edge, Legacy West is about 15 to 20 minutes away, and most homes are zoned to Frisco ISD. That mix of a McKinney tax bill and a SH 121 location is the main reason buyers choose it.
The center of the community is TPC Craig Ranch, the private Tom Weiskopf course that hosts the PGA Tour CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Around it are more than 400 acres of green space and trails, a Life Time athletic club, the city soccer complex, and a town center with restaurants and Veterans Memorial Park.
Housing ranges widely. Hemmingway townhomes start around $320,000, Craig Ranch North single family homes trade in the $400s, The Retreat offers lock and leave villas, and The Estates and The Settlement reach $900,000 to $1.8 million. There is no MUD or PID, but sellers pay a community enhancement fee at closing.
